Surgical Asset & Supply Consulting
The optimization phase aims for lean processes associated with internationally recognized standards and industry best practices. Based on your previously analyzed data, we optimize the various aspects and the overall life cycle of surgical assets in your CSSD and OR in order to create a foundation for the implementation of future-oriented solutions.
Based on the recommendations of the 360° scan, we support you in optimizing your OR supply as part of a strategic partnership. The level of collaboration can vary between consulting, support or intensive coaching.
The shift from single-use soft wraps to reusable sterile containers presents several challenges, such as additional required washing capacity for containers or different reprocessing process design. Overcoming these challenges, sterile containers offer a variety of benefits for your organization. One case study found that – compared to soft wrap packaging – on average US$ 190,000 can be saved per year by containerization.[1] Aesculap is your partner of choice to successfully navigate this transition from a disposable packaging towards reusable sterile container system, because we are offering more than just a sterile packaging system.
We provide the following individual services as an integral part of the containerization process and support to ensure the highest container performance within your hospital:
If you are currently using soft wrap, the container feasibility study determines the possibility to implement container systems in the reprocessing cycle and hospital logistic process. This also includes the evaluation of reprocessing capacities for containers, compatibility with current infrastructure (e. g. cleaning, sterilization or sterile stock organization), as well as set flows. After the analysis, we can provide possible cost & time savings including the aspect of sustainability. Further process benefits will be pointed out by using sterile containers. Finally, the right container system tailored to your process will be identified.
If you plan to modernize your existing container inventory or you are interested in the quality condition, we offer you the possibility of a container inventory analysis. You will get transparency of the current condition and value of your sterile containers and the required investment for repairs & replacements to bring the inventory back to full functionality.
The process analysis evaluates the current set-up of your reprocessing cycle, ensuring a safe and value preserving environment for the handling, cleaning, and sterilization of sterile containers. Afterwards you receive recommendations for improving your reprocessing cycle accordingly.
The choice and configuration of the appropriate sterile containers and baskets take place together with the key end users at your hospital. For a smart organization and most efficient processes, the container and basket system can be tailored to your needs, e. g. diverse colors options of lids, faceplates and identification labels are available. Additionally, consultants can set up your surgical instruments inside the basket for a simple, quick & safe instrument counting and storage. Our instrument organization system helps to identify missing instruments and to protect delicate and expensive surgical devices.
While you focus on your daily operations in OR & CSSD, we can support by seamlessly integrating your new sterile containers into each hospital’s workflow, such as e.g. the first wash of the container or the fixation of the instrument organization system within the baskets.
To guarantee the correct usage and a safe sterile barrier function of the containers, it is essential to have highly educated staff managing this process. Therefore, we provide e. g. on-site trainings for container handling, visual inspection, and reprocessing basics.
Sterile containers are generally not maintenance intensive products, however over many years, damages may occur during regular use of the products. Therefore, the visual inspection of the product during each reprocessing cycle is key to identifying potentially damaged containers and selecting them for repair. Defective sterile containers can be repaired and maintained at a certified Aesculap Technical Service facility or on-site at your hospital to extend the lifetime of your sterile containers. Repairs are made with only original Aesculap spare parts.
