“I started my fellowship in January 2024, and the amount of knowledge and experience I had a chance to gain in last 3 months is more than anybody can expect. Having a chance to follow the work of some of the leading neurosurgeons in Europe has been a great privilege.”

My unreserved appreciations goes to Professor Marcos Tatagiba, Professor Martin Schuhmann, Ms Susanne Efferenn, staff of department of neurosurgery, University College Hospital Tubingen, Aesculap and World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies. The support provided during my fellowship training was nothing but an ideal avenue to be better and improving neurosurgical service and most importantly pediatric neurosurgical service delivery in my locality.
From October to December 2022, Dr. Abdulkadir Demir from Turkey participated as our 24th fellow in the WFNS-Aesculap Pediatric Fellowship program at the University Hospital in Tübingen. We wish him all the best and hope that he gained a lot of experience and enjoyed his time in Tübingen!
After 4 years as Consultant Neurosurgeon this fellowship was something different, a unique and most useful experience. Professor Schuhmann is a great teacher, always willing to share his hardly gained expertise in practice and clinical research. I observed around 100 cases in my fellowship tenure. Besides the medical part, also the human part of interacting with patients and colleagues was an example for me to follow. There is no dedicated Pediatric Neurosurgery Hospital in Pakistan and through this Fellowship I will do my best to setup a Pediatric Neurosurgery department in Pakistan. I hope that many more like me will have the chance of attending this fellowship.
